dmbiach
Got back from seeing dave matthews band tonight. The show was pretty good, although the setlist was a terrible disappointment...about 90% of the songs were from the horribly mediocre last three albums, and the closest thing to a radio single was 'what would you say'...lame. Thats right:

No So Much To Say.
No Crash.
No Don't Drink the Water.
No Ants Marching.
No Satellite.
No any other song you've heard on the radio.

Its pretty ridiculous to go to the concert of a band that you own half of their discography and out of a 2 hour 45 minute set recognize 4 songs. Anyway, I spent most of the night watching other people. Sitting on the lawn was like sitting in on a live taping of the Dave Chappelle "White People Dancing" sketch. It was hilarious. Besides that, the best part was when a guy started playing the jazz flute and I turned to make an anchorman reference ("little ham and eggs comin atcha") and when i turned back i found my face planted square between the cheeks of some dude who had bent over to set down his beer. Looks like the ham and eggs were cookin on my grill. Anyway, guess you had to be there.

Zi shoes
I've been getting a grip of emails about the Zissou shoes I posted about months ago lately. No clue why. Anyway, strangers of the internet, welcome and let me tell you how to make your own.

1) Obtain a pair of white with white stripes and gum colored soles Adidas ROM shoes. The official color scheme on the box is listed as RWHITE/RWHITE/GOLDMT...again the model of the shoe is the ROM. Don't know if it helps, but the upc on my box is 256890001, and the model number is listed as 036636 ROM.

2) Get yourself some dark blue and grayish blue paint. I'm not sure what type, but I think acrylic...or maybe oil. Anyway, mix in a little nail polish remover to thin the paint and keep it from cracking. I'm sure theres instructions on mixing shoe paint elsewhere online. Paint the stripes and heel of the shoe. Whiteout or paint the ROM logo on the side.

3) Grab some yellow shoelaces, or some white ones and dye them. Lace em up proper.

4) Get a gold pen or dark blue pen and make yourself a stencil and put ZISSOU where the ROM was.

Viola, your very own pair of Zissous. Enjoy!

on the road again
I've put around 1500 miles on my car in the last 5 days, and will put at least 600 more in the next week or so. Its pretty boring in the car for the most part, but with a couple good cds the time goes by fast. My personal favorite is Sufjan Stevens "Come on Feel The Illinoise!". I can't get enough. Anyway, when driving, you have alot to think about. A couple pearls:

a) I really need a bookish indoor friend that hooks up with tons of chicks so that I could affectionately call him "Loindexter".
b) IHOP should start selling waffles with blackberries and powdered sugar on top, and call it the marionberry breakfast.
c) Referring to spooning as "erotic tetris" is really funny. Steve said it a couple days ago and I can't stop thinking about it.

servin game's my occupation
Summer is flying by thanks to a 70 hour work week and some good (or at least entertaining) music. My favorites:

Wolf Parade - The Modern World - The track is just brilliant. At some point during the song there is a transition where it goes from good to great. Its funny, because I've listened for it a million times and I can't pinpoint where it changes, but I can feel the difference from the beginning and end.
Mac Mall - Let's Get A Telly - I've been waking up to this every morning the last week after pulling it out of my old cds. "Me I'm hella saucy but I don't sniff blow, I'm known for bustin raps with that killer pimp flow". Genius.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - By all rights this is a horrible song that sounds like a 3 ring circus being poured through a megaphone with chanting carnies urging one to clap. Catchy as hell though.

Hopefully talk to you all soon.
