04/25/2005: "the kamboocha mushroom people"
Got back around 1am last night from the Souls 2005 benefit concert put on by System of a Down. The concert was put on to raise awareness about the "Forgotten" Genocide of the Armenian people in the country of Turkey in 1915-1923. Despite the fact that 1.5 million Armenians were killed, governments around the world refuse to recognize it as genocide. I managed to get pit tickets for the show, which was pretty darn good. I had seen System before in 1999 or 2000 at a filming of the now long gone farmclub.com tv show and they were awesome; the show last night surpassed even that. It was tiring for sure, although a little more tame than I expected. We managed to stay out of the moshing part of the pit and get stuck in the bermuda triangle of girls and weed smokers, so I was only pushed around mildly, which was ok by me. The highlight of the show was...well, pretty much everything. All the songs were performed high energy and back to back to back in a tight hour and 45 minute set. The only disappointment was that there were no tv shirts with lyrics from the new track "Cigaro"... (My cock is much bigger than yours!) Anyway, thanks System...now off to my first day back at work, that was a stupid scheduling error.
