03/21/2005: "zach braff no longer rocks my jock"

So I watched punk'd this morning, and they had Zach Braff on there. Highlights? Probably when Zach told a 10 year old kid "I saw you do it you little f-er" and "Keep that kid away from me or I will punch him in the f-n face". Delicious. It drives me nuts that he was recently a guest of honor at a Big Brothers, Big Sisters banquet for his outstanding achievements, not really because in his spare time he threatens small children, but because why does he need an award? He's a famous actor that went on to write and direct a famous movie and got a Grammy for releasing a mixtape of songs that were all 3 years old or so. (I'm not bitter about that one) What about awarding the kids that manage to do their homework while their parents are out working at night or the guy that is able to stay motivated despite having no reason to be? I think we far too often award excellence to the people that don't need it, and allow those that are mediocre accept mediocrity and lose motivation. Although I suppose it works out well, because then we have a nice little class system to do the jobs we don't want to do. Sheesh, that got a little political there at the end, sorry about that....have a good day (and sorry Zach, not picking on you, its the system!)

hehe, that's why I'm trying to avoid having Kris force me to watch that episode. She has it on dvr but it's just a matter of time before she has to record something over it. I just have to wait her out. :P

clarification - zb received the "Rising Star" award at the Big Brothers, Big Sisters event, he never claimed to be a good big brother, there were also actual big brothers and little brothers who received honors that night... AND, dude, at least he didn't punch the kid! no one is perfect, but mediocre? i beg to differ (let me know if you'd like to discuss this further =P)... and for the love of music, shouldn't you of all people be happy that good music is being recognized regardless of it being current???

Geez, whens the next meeting of the Zach Braff defense league? For the record, I don't think I called dear ol Zachie poo mediocre in the post above. He's quite a talented actor and I'm quite looking forward to scrubs being on dvd, and I'm sure he'll do a good job on arrested development (not even he could mess that show up, just kidding! :P) As for popularizing the music...its a double edged sword I feel...as soon as a certain type of music becomes popular or shows the potential for profit, thats when corporate music comes in and tries to make a buck, and I'm sure it won't be long before you hear shins ripoff bands on clear channel. But it is nice for people to be able to hear and enjoy good music that they might not normally have access to. Maybe we're getting around all that and the internet will allow indie music to stay indie...remains to be seen. Anyway, I'm done (at least for awhile) with my controversial Zach Braff discourse, I can't take the heat!
