12/02/2004: "those crazy brits"

I don't know why, but I just laughed really hard at this Washington Post headline (for those of you that don't have an account, its about the extramarital affairs of Britain's security czar...the headline is "Once again, London Britches Falling Down"). It combines clever wordplay and underwear dropping, two of my most favorite things.

When I was in Fresno for Thanksgiving, I went out with my high school friends quite a bit. One of the days, we went to IHOP after a long night of drinking, which ended at 9am. (Around 7am the mimosas started coming out...honestly...thats classy). Anyway, at IHOP, I was starved (and I just saw the check on my desk, so it reminded me of this story). When the waitress came I said...gimme an omlette, 6 eggs, every topping, plus throw some hashbrowns in that. She laughed...I didn't. She then asked if I was serious and I just gave her the look. She knew what was up. I saw her and her waitress friends holding some sort of meeting in the back corner about how to handle the situation. I thought it might take a couple to carry it, but one of the bigger ones managed it on her own. She brought it out to me, carrying it like it was a baby or something. It was about the size of an NFL football, and man was it good. I managed to polish off the whole thing, but the last few bites were pretty nasty. My order took up about 90% of the bill:

All for the bargain price of $24.60. The cost was well worth it, for the memories. Ah, the memories....

wow, I'll bet it was tasty. but the memories from the day after polishing it off probably weren't as good...
